CPI Students to Host Fire Pit Presentation at Home and Garden Show

For horticulture and landscaping students Charlee Marshall and Alexis Witherite, building and creating outdoor hardscapes and landscapes has become second nature. They have been selected to host a demonstration on "How to Build a Fire Pit" at the 34th annual Central PA Home and Garden Show at the Bryce Jordan Center. Demonstrations will be held 5:45 p.m. March 9; 4 p.m. March 10; and 12:15 p.m. March 11.

Using a circle kit from EP Henry Corporation, the students said they will host the presentation about how to lay base pavers, the appropriate way to assemble it and kinds of martials one should use.

“We really want people to know when they do this to take their time, don’t rush,” Witherite said. “It’s about the quality of it.”

The pit will then be donated to an attendee through a raffle drawing, and installed at their home by Marshall and Witherite.

“We’ve been participating in the home show for three years and always helped (build) the main display, and now it’s nice to have a bigger part in it,” Marshall said.
