Medical Science and Technology

The Medical Science program provides students a positive environment to learn the art of caring. Students find that caring also encompasses teamwork, honesty, responsibility and a solid work ethic. These are just some of the soft skills desperately needed in the workforce of today.

In the classroom, we bring learning to life by getting students out of the classroom and into the community. Whether it’s an organized community volunteer opportunity, or having students volunteer at a local long-term care facility once a week, students are taught the importance of giving back to their community.  As far as classwork goes, when learning about the beauty and complexity of different organs and body systems, specimens are provided for students to touch and work with in the classroom setting.

The Nurse Aide program is a highlight of the Medical Science program. After successful completion of the Nurse Aide program, students may work as a health aide, or sit for state certification tests to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). After obtaining their CNA, students are eligible for Cooperative Education opportunities as seniors, if certain criteria are met. Another exciting component in this program is the opportunity for juniors and seniors to take a Medical Terminology course and earn college credit. Education is definitely a verb in the medical science program!
