Cosmetology

Cosmetology is the art and science of hair, skin, and nail care, and deals with hair cutting and styling, permanent waving, hair coloring, and chemical relaxing for men and women. Also included in the program is instruction in manicuring, nail application, nail art, facials, skin analysis, and make-up application. A state license must be obtained before becoming a cosmetologist, manicurist, or cosmetician. Students can obtain 3 professional licensures: 1250 hours of training must be completed prior to being eligible for the license examination for cosmetology, 200 hours for manicurist, and 200 hours for cosmetician (make-up applications). Student must maintain hour requirements to continue in program. Students are expected to take the State Board of Cosmetology examination upon completion of the program.

Alicia Breon

Alicia Breon was born and raised in the area and attended the Bald Eagle Area High School.  She always had a passion for the art of beautification as she grew up with her mother as a Licensed Cosmetologist.  After high school, Alicia attended South Hills School of Business and Technology and earned her Associate Degree in Specialized Business.  After working in the construction industry for 6 years, she decided to finally go after her dream of being in the beauty industry!

Alicia attended the CPI Adult Cosmetology program as well as the Teachers program.  She went on to be a freelance makeup artist for a photographer, as well as work at Holiday Hair where she was quickly promoted to Salon Manager.  It was a year after becoming Salon Manager, that the opportunity to share her passion with others presented itself at CPI!

Along with teaching, Alicia owns a local salon/spa.  In her free time, she loves to spend time with her 2 dogs, and family.  She loves playing with and spoiling her nieces and nephew, and always has a book to read.

Time may be dedicated to receiving extra hours by: • After-school activities

• Plays (make-up, and Hair do’s)
• Manicures (to the home bound)
Cosmetology – 1250 hours

Esthetician Certification – 300 hours
An Esthetician is professionally trained to give beauty treatments such as facials, manicures, and pedicures. With the increasing awareness of client’s needs for healthy, youthful skin and the popularity of day spas; Esthetician are in demand.
Student Cost: $149.00 (students fund-raise to cover cost)

Nail Technician – 200 hours
This 200 hour course will help prepare students for the fast growing, high paying profession of nail technicians.
Student Cost: $149.00 (students fund-raise to cover cost)

Teacher Training Program – 500 hours
This course is designed to prepare students to be licensed instructors in the state of Pennsylvania.
