WELD 42 — 42-Hour Welding Fundamentals & Skills Development
Whether you have never picked up a welding hood or you’re an experienced welder looking to sharpen your skills, WELD 42 is designed to give you hands-on experience with the most common welding and cutting processes used in industry.
This 42-hour course provides an introduction to MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), along with hands-on instruction in plasma cutting and oxy-fuel torch cutting. Students will learn the basics of equipment setup, process operation, material preparation, welding techniques, safety, and weld quality.
The course is designed for a wide range of skill levels. Beginners can use WELD 42 to learn the fundamentals in a structured shop environment, while experienced welders can use the available shop time to practice specific skills, work on techniques they want to improve, or prepare for an upcoming welding test.
What You’ll Work With
- MIG / GMAW — Equipment setup, wire selection, shielding gas, technique, and basic welds
- TIG / GTAW — Equipment setup, tungsten, shielding gas, filler metal, and basic technique
- Stick / SMAW — Machine setup, electrode selection, polarity, and basic welds
- Flux-Cored / FCAW — Setup, wire selection, shielding requirements, and welding technique
- Plasma Cutting — Equipment setup, cutting technique, piercing, and basic cutting operations
- Oxy-Fuel Cutting — Torch setup, flame adjustment, cutting technique, and safe cylinder handling
