Pennsylvania State ‘Safety ‘ Inspection

For technicians needing the PA State “Safety” Inspection mechanic certification, this course includes 3 hours of hands-on brake and suspension systems and preparation for the exam. Students entering this program must have a general knowledge of the vehicle and a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license for the vehicle they wish to inspect. Hours: 16 (9 hours Theory – plus tool and procedure demonstrations, written exams, and tactile time).

Note: CPI’s State Inspection Course includes Category 1. If you want additional categories, the cost is $40 for each additional category. To add categories to your order, complete checking out with your credit card payment – then go to CPI’s home page (www.cpi.edu), choose “Make a Payment” in the upper right corner, then enter your information along with which each additional categories you would like to include, and complete by making a payment to cover the additional categories. The categories and descriptions are listed below:

Category 1: This covers passenger cars, trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 17,000 pounds or less, and trailers with a GVW of 10,000 pounds or less.

Category 2: This category specifically includes motorcycles.

Category 3: This encompasses heavy trucks and buses with a GVW exceeding 17,000 pounds, as well as trailers with a GVW exceeding 10,000 pounds.

Category 4: This category focuses on enhanced inspections and document review.
