IT/CISCO Networking Academy
As an approved Cisco Networking Academy, CPI students enrolled in the IT / Networking Academy will be provided with an online curriculum designed by Cisco as well as hands-on activities on Cisco’s routers, hubs and switches. Cisco Systems is an internationally recognized information technology company that provides design, construction, and maintenance of computer networks for internet and corporate intranet systems. Students completing the training program will have much of the knowledge base and skills necessary to complete the certification examination as a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA). Students completing this program will also have the opportunity to take their A+ and Net + certification tests. Pre-requisites for the IT / Networking Academy include successful completion of 9th grade math and English. No prior computer experience is required.
Alan Capparelle
Mr. Capparelle is the Information Technology instructor at CPI. He graduated from Bellefonte Area High School. Mr. Capparelle attended Penn State University as a Mathematics Major and Computer Science Minor. After leaving school to work for the family business, he returned to South Hills School of Business & Technology in 2001 to finish college. He graduated Highest Honors in the Computer Information Systems/ Networking curriculum. He interned with the Bellefonte Area School District and Penn State University.
He was hired at CPI as the Technology Coordinator in 2004. In this capacity, Mr. Capparelle was responsible for the school’s network, computers, and other devices. During this time, he filled in as the Cisco/ Information Technology instructor on several occasions for extended periods of time. When the instructor position became available in 2013, he decided to move into the classroom permanently.
There will rarely be outside classroom work, but on those rare occasions it will consist of research or make-up work.
CompTIA A+
The CompTIA A+ certification demonstrates competency as a computer technician. The CompTIA A+ certification is the starting point for a career in IT. The exam covers maintenance of PCs, mobile devices, laptops, operating systems and printers.

CompTIA Network+
The CompTIA Network+ certification is the sign of a qualified networking professional. The exam covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security. Candidate job roles include network administrator, network technician, network installer, help desk technician and IT cable installer.

CCENT Certification
Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) validates the ability to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security. With a CCENT, the network professional demonstrates the skills required for entry- level network support positions – the starting point for many successful careers in networking.The curriculum covers networking fundamentals, WAN technologies, basic security and wireless concepts, routing and switching fundamentals, and configuring simple networks. CCENT is the first step toward achieving CCNA, which covers medium size enterprise branch networks with more complex connections.
